Before the alarm clocks start ringing early, weeknight homework routines kick in, and schedule-packed calendars take over, it’s time for one final celebration.

Summer is winding down, but the fun at Town Center of Virginia Beach is just getting warmed up! Whether you’re looking to squeeze in a special family day out, treat the kids to a late-night sweet treat, gear up for the school year in style, or indulge in a little self-care reset before the chaos begins, Town Center is your go-to destination for a “Last Hurrah.”

Here is how you can make the most of the final weeks of summer!

SHOPPING: Gear Up in Style (For Kids & Parents!)

Back-to-school shopping doesn’t have to be a chore; make it a fun family outing! Town Center’s walkable streets and top retailers make finding the latest trends easy and stress-free.

  • Build & Inspire: Stop by The LEGO® Store to spark creativity before school starts. Let the kids pick out a bag charm or build custom minifigures at the Build-a-Minifigure tower to kick off the school year with imagination.
  • Fresh Back-to-School Threads: Refresh their wardrobes with trend-forward pieces at Anthropologie, Free People, or Psycho Bunny or pick up classic, elevated back-to-school essentials at Brooks Brothers and J.Jill.
  • Home & Dorm Decor: Heading off to college or refreshing a study space at home? Browse Pottery Barn and West Elm for stylish desk accessories, cozy bedding, and organization essentials that make studying a little more inspiring.

DINING: Savor Every Last Summer Bite

There’s no better way to celebrate summer than dining al fresco under the warm evening sky. Skip the cooking and dishes tonight!

  • Patio Dining & Family Feasts: Gather the family on the patio at Yard House, Cantina Laredo, or Quirks. Enjoy long conversations without worrying about a bedtime schedule.
  • Casual Favorites & Brunch: Start your weekend right with a relaxed southern-style brunch at Tupelo Honey Cafe, or grab a classic burger and shake from Shake Shack..
  • Sweet Summer Treats: No last hurrah is complete without dessert! Treat the kids to a chocolate fondue session or frozen hot chocolate at The Royal Chocolate, or grab handcrafted gourmet ice cream from Gelati Celesti to enjoy while strolling around the plaza.

ENTERTAINMENT: Free Music, Shows & Family Fun

Before weeknight schedules return, take advantage of the remaining summer nights with world-class entertainment and live outdoor events.

  • Summer Fest Music Series (Fountain Plaza): The ultimate summer staple! Bring the whole family out to the Fountain Plaza every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night (5:00 PM – 9:00 PM) through Labor Day weekend, with a bonus Monday concert on Labor Day. Enjoy free live music from popular local bands while the kids can dance and play on the fountain plaza. Grab takeout or outdoor seating at a nearby restaurant and soak in the music!
  • Catch a Show: Treat the older kids or enjoy a parent-date night out before school starts! Check out upcoming performances at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts or Zeiders American Dream Theater.
  • Interactive Family Fun: Escape the summer heat during the day with interactive fun at Apex Entertainment or unleash your inner artist with a painting session at Muse Paintbar.

WELLNESS: The Pre-School Year Reset

Parenting through the transition from summer freedom to structured school schedules can be taxing. Take time to recharge your mind and body before the September rush.

  • Mom & Dad Self-Care: Treat yourself to a pre-school-year refresh with a fresh blowout from drybar or a session at Beem Light Sauna that will leave you feeling revitalized.
  • Fitness & Energy: Sweat out the summer stress or start a new fall routine at [solidcore], one of Town Center’s newest residents.

Make Your Last Hurrah Unforgettable!

Don’t let the final days of summer slip away indoors. Park for free in any of Town Center’s five covered garages, wander the beautiful outdoor plazas, and create lasting memories with your family before the new school year begins.
